Community and Knowledge Lab: Fusion 2022
What’s better than a Community shaped by our very own members? We are extremely grateful for all the feedback and participation at the D2L Fusion 2022 in Boston during our Community and Knowledge Lab User Research testing as well as FusionX. We had over 60 visitors to our lab both onsite and virtually. Key feedback provided by our conversations during Fusion are shaping exciting changes in the future of the Community.
- Following our research studies from fusion, we heard from YOU and are working on: Easier, faster and a more intuitive navigation inside the Brightspace Community
- Content categorization keeping your Brightspace workflows in mind!
- Ensure our documentation lets you know 'Why?' you are going to use a workflow/ tool and is easy to read.

Customer Spotlight
It's always fun to see a fellow Brightspace Educator use Brightspace to help transform the way the world learns!
For this edition, we are highlighting Dr. Chris Jones who has exemplified a fun way of using Awards to individualize student recognition. If you are interested and looking to get inspired check out a few of his sample awards, in his award badges twitter thread!

Discussions: What's everyone talking about?
As many of our Community Members are getting ready for a new school year questions about academic integrity maybe top of mind for many of you. We encourage you to connect in our discussions to share and support one another in fostering a class room community of trust.
To help connect you with resources that focus on academic integrity and plagiarism we would like to take this opportunity to share updates in our July Release Notes. Here, we highlight a few updates to the TurnItIn plugin:
• Instructors can now restrict file types to those supported by TurnItIn. If an invalid type is submitted, an error is reported with no other side effect.
• GradeMark is now Online Grading and Originality Check is now Similarity Report. Instructors can enable features for Online Grading and Similarity Report separately within the TurnItIn Integration options page.
• In Brightspace Learning Environment, the submission view now reflects the new TurnItIn feature names that match Brightspace’s user interface styling and text.

Fusion 2022
This year it was personal! We loved connecting with D2L customers, partners and professionals in the Education sector to learn how we can support the mission to "Reach every learner!". Keeping consistent with this years theme, we hoped to collect user experience data to personalize the experience for our Community members.
We, the Community and Knowledge lab focused on 3 key areas inside Community for this years Fusion:
- Navigation experience inside the new Community prototype!
- Content categorization inside the Community Knowledge base
- Value proposition lead writing and ease of reading a Community Article.
